i really hope he does great at the HC i’ve been an oklahoma fan my whole life and he just seems like a genuinely hood guy and i’ve loved seeing him supporting the other OU teams since coming to norman it really feels like he wants to be a part of OU athletics as a whole and not just OU football its really cool seeing him be excited about the university as a whole and I’m so ready for our defense to not be a joke

The only head coach I know that Oklahoma has hired with head coaching experience was Howard Schnellenberger. Every other coach I can think of was a coordinator hire going back to Bud Wilkinson, Jim McKenzie, Chuck Fairbanks, Barry Switzer, Gary Gibbs, John Blake, Bob Stoops, Lincoln Riley, and now Brent venables… all of those were assistants b4 getting the head coaching job at Oklahoma. There was 7 national championships in that group. So when people bring up we should’ve hired a coach with head coaching experience I point out Howard schnellenberger. We did that once and he won a national championship at Miami and it was a bad hire for Oklahoma. Oklahoma has made a living on finding head coaches in the assistants around college football. Welcome back coach venables.

EVERY OKLAHOMA FAN KNOWS ABOUT BRENT VENABLES! We had him as a defensive. Coordinator for 13 yrs. that’s laughable u said that 😂😂😂 that 2001 Oklahoma defense may have been a top 3 ever defense we just didn’t have the offense that year. But if anyone knows about Brent venables it’s Oklahoma fans.

Riley’s offense has declined over the last five years. He didn’t recruit OU’s Heisman trophy winners. He ruined Spencer’s career by forcing play in a year he knew was his last rather than developing him. Caleb Williams is slow to a decision because he always wanted to play for Riley but witnessed his lack of character and destruction of Spencer.

We won the coaching wars. It wasn’t just losing one great coach and replacing with another one. We out right won!

As a Oklahoma fan being from Tulsa and now a Tennessee vol being I lived here for 38 years I say venebles will be a good coach . But Oklahoma welcome to the SEC ! Now as a fan see Oklahoma play more consistent teams .
