The 1920s often called the Roaring Twenties, is synonymous with the Jazz Age and the Harlem Renaissance. Black musicians, visual artists, and writers were able to achieve great fame and notoriety for their work during this period. But blacks would never be tolerated at parties by Hollywood's jet set, let alone invited. In those days, Black communities were ravaged by riots, subjected to racism and discrimination in every way possible, and under the near-constant threat of the highly-active Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups that felt Black Americans and White Americans could never be equal. If they are shown naked in the picture and cavorting in a general debauchery, that is an exaggerated just- for show gimmick. Besides, America has always been prudish no matter the era.

This is a great film. The script is amazing, the cinematography is incredible and the acting is exceptional. It's got a Quentin Tarantino feel to it. Well done to the director for puting it altogether so proficiently. As for the lead actors, Diego Calva puts in a solid performance as the Mexican immigrant Manuel Torres. Tobey Maguire is also very impressive. Brad Pitt is now at a stage in his career where he has mastered the art of acting, and again, he puts in another career defining performance. Then we come to the incredibly beautiful and charismatic Margot Robbie. In this film she is phenomenal. Whenever shes on screen you cant take your eyes off her. Her line delivery, timing, look, and presence are all immaculate. She already is an all time great. Margot Robbie really deserves an oscar for this role.

I thought it was a decent film. Margot Robbie deserved to be nominated for the "Best Actress" category as she put, in my opinion, a very passionate performance
